Summertime Flowers

Summertime in our gardens!
What a delightful time of the year.
Thanks to Peter who took these pictures.

I used his photos to create my versions of how I
see these flowers.
We are now trying to capture some of the butterflies and
finches that are in abundance. As of now, we have not been
fast enough.

And still waiting to catch a glimpse of the ever elusive
hummingbirds!

Working on more portraits

This photo was taken in Whitnall Park.
It was fall and a beautiful setting
for a wedding.

Making it into an acrylic painting 2 years
later was a fun project.

Hoping Jodi & Lee enjoy this rendition.

I would love to create a painting of your favorite
image as well. Please contact me for a booking.

Pictures from Milwaukee Artist Marketplace

MAM Artist Marketplace

On Saturday July 25th we were privileged to share space
on the steps of Milwaukee Art Museum with
80 other local artists.

The weather was superb.
Some clouds looked threatening but
the rain held off until the show was completed at 5PM.

Many folks stopped by. Traffic was steady.
We took the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with old
friends and meet new art lovers.
Peter even recognized a former high school classmate from the
early 60's who stopped by his booth!

Personalized Signature

On Saturday morning, Candy Robinson came to the
Milwaukee Artist Marketplace at the Lakefront to have
her painting that she purchased the evening before
personally signed by Renée.
Such an honor to both sell a painting and then also
to sell to an old friend who you know will frame and
display it with pride.
It is especially an honor knowing that Candy is
an experienced interior designer.

Update on Art Work at M Café

This evening's show was great!
So many new and old friends showed up to give us
support and look at our newest photographs and paintings.
It was a very pleasant, easy going flow of visitors says Peter.
Peter who was there representing both of us as I was
unfortunately unable to attend.

It was an unexpectedly and pleasant surprise to see our dear
old friends, Dan & Candy Robinson come down for the show.
Much to our delight, Candy went home with her own limited
edition print of "Riverwalk Reflections".

Setting up for our Exhibit at M_Cafe

Peter took about 40 of our images to M-Cafe in downtown Milwaukee at 535 E. Wells.
His goal was to hang all of these photos and paintings and work around customers as well as employees.

He met the task head on with ladders, hammer, hooks, a level and a
great sense of balance and humor. He was efficient and said on his
return that the biggest hurdle was his effort to arrange all of the images in a pleasing motif.

I think he did well! What do you think?

Please stop down to see us at M Cafe.
We will be opening on Friday July 25th
with an Artist Reception from 5 - 9PM.
Exhibit will be open to the public until the end of September, 2009.

Milenium Park

The strong symmetry caught my eye
when I was walking through Milenium Park
in Downtown Chicago about 2 years ago.
I took the picture on a cold and quiet
day and did not have a chance
until recently to turn it into a painting.

It is an enjoyable place to be when crowds
abound and also when you have solitude
without the bustle of crowds.

It is a park that seems to change both
with the seasons and the amount of
people exploring it.

It is well worth your time and exploration.

Indian Paintbrush

I find the Indian Paintbrush to
be one of the most vibrant
flowers in the West.

This is a painted version of
the Indian Paintbrush taken
from a photo that our son,
Doug took in Colorado
during one of his many hikes
with his wife, Heidi and
their faithful companion,
Molly.

Home from our show in Oxford

Peter & I had a wonderful show in Oxford, WI this past weekend on July 4th.
We couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise. Warm but with
a cloud cover so it kept sunburns to a minimum and visitors to a max.
Rain finally arrived about 4PM and we hustled to pack all in our SUV.
Nothing damaged.
We want to especially thank our dear friends, Paul & Maris
who helped us set up as I am currently on crutches.
For the take down, we gladly accepted the help of friends Cory & Jason.
Cory was also at the show with her beaded artwork.

This was our booth at the Fair.
We enjoyed ourselves and I think the fairgoers did as well!

Art on the Farm

Peter & I have been working hard all week preparing our images for
the art show in Oxford, WI. We've had a busy week, printing,
tagging, framing and packaging all of our images.
We are leaving tomorrow morning and setting up our tent
and display on the property of Doc & Pam Hines who are
the hosts of this year's show.
W8632 County Road I, Oxford, WI.

This year there will also be a Silent Auction for the benefit of
St. Clare Hospice House Resident Fund.

We trust the weather will be great and the grounds will be filled
with people looking to decorate their homes.

If you are in the vicinity, please stop by. We will be
there on Saturday, July 4th from 10AM to 5PM
